Skeldon House is a fine 18th century mansion located in the scenic countryside of Ayrshire in South West Scotland. Positioned above a circular meander in the River Doon, which flows through the Estate, this imposing country house and family home stands in a wonderfully romantic setting enhanced by its magnificent trees, superb gardens and relaxing riverside walks.
The house and Estate provide a unique venue for any special event or celebration, including, of course, a wedding. A magical place for a memorable occasion.
Wedding Venue in Ayrshire
The house and gardens provide a breathtaking backdrop to any wedding celebration. The photographic opportunities provided by the house, its gardens and the river are limitless: and just strolling about in the product of over 200 years of horticulture is a pleasure in itself. Wedding ceremonies can be held in our Library situated a few yards away from the house. This impressive yet intimate room, provides just the right atmosphere of solemnity and happiness in which to exchange vows.
The wedding reception is held in a spacious marquee on the large, easily accessible, front lawn. The marquee is provided by Purvis Marquees who hold a Royal Warrant as providers of tents to HM The Queen. Purvis have erected marquees at Holyrood House and Buckingham Palace. Smaller marquees can be erected by special arrangement in the formal gardens below the house for smaller parties, such as a drinks reception.
The standard marquee can seat up to 180. But the wedding marquee can be extended or reduced in size in accordance with the your wishes. There can be a dance floor, and a raised stage or dais. The famous Irish band, the Saw Doctors, has performed at Skeldon as has the Pasadena Roof Orchestra. The interior of the marquee is draped and fitted with chandeliers, but Purvis can make any alteration or adjustment as required.

Corporate Events, Private Parties, Conferences
You don’t need to get married to enjoy the pleasurable surroundings of Skeldon House and Estate.
The venue and marquee facilities are entirely suitable for 21st or other birthday parties, corporate entertainment and even conferences. We can accommodate any size of event up to 250.
Film Locations
The Skeldon Estate presents huge opportunities for film locations. Whether it be at our 520 acre beef and sheep farm, or at the mansion house, or in the gardens, or down at the river, there is plenty of scope for stunning backdrops and breathtaking cinematography. Terms of Business will depend on the nature and extent of the use of location required.
