Fishing on the River DoonFishing

Salmon and trout fishing is available on the Skeldon beat of the River Doon during the summer season. Please contact us for the current prices - telephone 01292 560656

We have two miles double bank fishing with twelve named pools, good access and all on level ground. Maximum five rods per day.

We accept both fly and spinning.

The estate retains house rods on beats. These may also be available by negotiation.

Skeldon fishing beats are situated in the middle reaches of the River Doon and are considered to be some of the best. The Doon is a back end spate river and fishes best from August onwards, although fish are caught earlier depending on conditions. Season opens on the 11th February and closes on 31st October. Permits are available for single rods or parties either by the day or the week.

During the last 10 years the average annual catch on the Skeldon fishings has been approximately 130.

A hard surface tennis court is available for hire to any of our guests who are staying on the Estate. Proper tennis shoes must be worn; we regret that we do not provide racquets.

We are fortunate to have an abundance of wildlife, including red squirrels, otters, badgers, roe deer, woodpeckers, jays, etc, which we hope our guests will enjoy as they walk around the Estate.

:: Falconry

We can arrange a private display of falconry, including hawks, owls and eagles. Experience these magnificent birds at close quarters.
